---Albert Einstein--
Albert Einstein is one of the greatest scientists on whom rests modern science. He was a jew. He was born at Ulm in Northemburg.
Germany, on 14th March 1879. Very soon the family moved to Munich where he went to school.
The family went to Italy but Einstein continued to study at Aarau, Switzerland. He studied physics and mathematics and got his diploma in 1905. He became a Swiss citizen and served as technical assistant in the Swiss Patent Office.
He got a doctorate in 1905. He acquired German Citizenship in 1914 and lived in Berlin up to 1933. He was on a lacture tour in California when Hitler came to power in Germany. He became a US citizen in 1940 and died at Princeton, New Jersey on 18th April 1955.
While working in Berne. Switzerland in 1905. Einstein published four highly original papers.
One was a mathematical explanation of the Brownian Movement in molecular terms. The second explained the photo-electric effect in terms of photons.
The third related to his special theory of relativity. The fourth related mass to energy. In 1916 he extended the theory of relativity to the general case.
He was awarded the Nobel Prize for physics in 1921. Einstein was a pacifist. In 1939 he was persuaded to write to Roosevelt warning him that Germany could make the first atom bomb.
He took no part in manufacturing the atom bomb. He became an active advocate of nuclear disarmament in the post-war years. Einstein had no lust for power. This is clear from his refusal of the first presidency of Israel.
He took an active part in setting up the Hebrew university of Jerusalem. Besides science, he had a keen interest in medicine and philosophy.
He received honorary doctorates from many American and European universities. He was honoured with numerous awards, too.
