What causes Ascariasis? Discuss its main symptoms.

Ans. The Ascaris (common roundworm) belongs to Helminthes. It is pathogenic 

to man. Ascaris is an intestinal parasite

 of man. It causes ascariasis.

Symptoms: These include internal bleeding, muscular pain, fever, anaemia (blood loss) and blockage of the intestinal passage.

 The eggs of the parasite are excreted along with feaces of infected persons which contaminate soil, water and plants. A healthy person is infected through contaminated water vegetables and fruits.
