Ans. There are several reasons causing the drug addiction.
(1) Curiosity:-- Frequent reference of
drugs in print media, electronic media and description by addicts creates curiosity for having a personal experience.
(2) Peer group pressure:-- Frequent description by friends about the "good feeling" creates a temptation. Such encouragement from friends and peer groups acts as a pressure to start with drugs.
(3) Family History :--- Repeated use of drug by a parent, elder or family member in front of younger ones act as the most natural stimulant.
4 Desire to do more physical or mental work :-- Some people fall in the trap of drugs for enhancing their physical and mental capabilities, e.g. anabolic steroids by sports persons, amphetamine by students and drivers.
(5) To overcome frustrations and depressions :--- The desire to get solace or relief from personal problems initiates the use of drugs.
